MeshOS v0.4.0

MeshOS 0.4.0: Repeater UI, QR Contacts, and Trace Route

MeshOS 0.4.0 lands on March 23, 2026, bringing a handful of features that make day-to-day mesh operation noticeably smoother on Android.

Repeater Configuration Without the CLI

Until now, setting up a repeater — a node that automatically forwards packets through the mesh — meant dropping into the command line. The new Repeater Settings Tab handles all of that through a clean in-app interface. A built-in Location Picker lets you place the repeater on a map, so there's no need to type in coordinates by hand.

CLI Output Fixed

The CLI (Command Line Interface) panel has been fixed so that responses appear directly below the command that triggered them. Previously, output would render out of order, making it hard to follow multi-step sequences. Now, running something like:

CLI
set radio.rxgain on
reboot

returns its response exactly where you'd expect it.

QR Code Contact Sharing

Exchanging contacts is now as simple as showing a screen. Any contact can be displayed as a QR code and scanned by another MeshOS device on the spot. This is especially handy at meetups or field deployments where typing node addresses isn't ideal.

Trace Route: Follow Your Messages

The new Trace Route feature visualizes the path a message takes through the mesh, hop by hop. This gives operators a clearer picture of network topology and makes it easier to spot weak links or unexpected routing behavior.

Three Visual Themes

MeshOS now ships with Dark, Light, and Tactical themes. The tactical theme uses muted, low-contrast colors designed to preserve night vision and reduce screen visibility in field conditions — a small but meaningful addition for outdoor use.
