Current Trademark Status
A UK-based lawyer has officially submitted the opposition against the trademark application. Consequently, the trademark's status is now "opposed," indicating that opposition proceedings are underway. Specific dates for the next steps in this process are not yet available, and the situation currently requires patience.
While the team is hopeful that sufficient evidence has been presented to secure a favorable ruling, the complexities of trademark law mean that outcomes cannot be guaranteed, as highlighted by the MeshCore team.
Future Outlook and MeshCore Development
Despite the uncertainties surrounding the trademark issue, the MeshCore team remains optimistic about the future. Various options are still available to pursue the vision of a decentralized, LoRa-based mesh network.
Technical development continues unabated. The upcoming v1.17.0 release is set to introduce significant improvements to MeshCore. Furthermore, numerous long-term enhancements for the project are actively being worked on.
