The MeshCore Companion App, central to the MeshCore off-grid communication network, has received a substantial update to version 1.47.0. Released on July 10, 2026, this iteration introduces several key enhancements aimed at improving user interaction, network visualization, and overall functionality for enthusiasts of decentralized mesh networking.

Path Viewer Enhancements

A notable addition to the Path Viewer is a new map tab, providing a visual representation of message paths within the network. Furthermore, the subtitle of the Path Viewer now includes the Path Hash size, offering more detailed insight into data routing metrics.

Advanced Channel Management and QR Code Integration

Sharing channels has been streamlined, now possible directly from the message composer, simplifying collaborative efforts. The update also enables the scanning of MeshCore QR codes using the system’s native camera application. When sharing a channel via QR code, users can now attach region scopes, allowing for geo-fenced channel access. The app also gains the ability to process meshcore:// URLs from external applications, enhancing interoperability.

Improved Node Discovery Tools

The Nearby Discovery Tool, which identifies neighboring nodes, now allows fetching owner information and requesting names from repeaters. Tapping on a discovered node can directly open its contact screen, if available, streamlining the process of connecting with nearby MeshCore users.

2.4 GHz LoRa Bandwidth Selection

For devices utilizing 2.4 GHz radios with LoRa capabilities, the update introduces the option to select supported LoRa bandwidths. This provides greater flexibility in configuring radio communication parameters, enabling users to optimize performance based on their specific hardware and environmental conditions. The "failed to sync messages" error popup has been removed, reducing unnecessary alerts.

User Interface Refinements

The sender's name is now displayed inside the message bubble. This aesthetic change improves readability, especially in dark mode where previously dark-colored names could be difficult to distinguish.
