MeshCore Companion App: New Features and Improvements with Version 1.49.0
The MeshCore Companion App receives a series of new features and optimizations with the release of version 1.49.0 on August 22, 2026. These updates primarily enhance the use of repeaters and the display of message channels. The aim is to make the LoRa-based decentralized mesh network even more intuitive and to provide more precise information.
Enhanced Repeater Path Tracing
Users can now directly trace the current path to and from a repeater. This is particularly useful for monitoring connectivity and signal forwarding efficiency within the mesh network. Concurrently, the Repeater Remote Management settings have been expanded with a new network screen, allowing configuration of important parameters.
Region Display in Channel Messages
A new setting enables the display of region names for received channel messages. This provides additional contextual information about the message's origin and improves orientation in geographically dispersed networks.
Visualization of Notification Status
The channel list now includes an icon that directly indicates whether notifications are turned off for a specific channel. Additionally, the notification badge for muted channels now changes from red to gray, providing a clearer visual distinction. The unread indicator on the contacts and channels tabs now shows the count of unread conversations, further improving clarity.
Simplified Path Hash Size Configuration
The settings for path hash size and default region scope have been moved from experimental to the main settings screen. This facilitates access and configuration of these crucial parameters. Radio presets now also include a default path hash size, which is applied automatically when switching presets. Furthermore, the path hash size can now be configured in the advanced settings during the onboarding process, simplifying initial setup. Autocorrect has been disabled for the region name field to ease manual input.
Bug Fixes for Improved Stability
A resolved bug occasionally prevented the unread messages indicator from showing if the unread contact was off-screen. Another bug in the map view, which could cause the app to freeze when zooming quickly, has also been fixed, significantly improving application stability.
